If you've ever built an email campaign, you know it can be a very time and resource intensive process. And that’s before you even think about optimizing a campaign’s content for each recipient. Fortunately, using Evergage for Email to add Promotions – and optionally, Recommendations – to an outgoing email campaign gives you the flexibility to customize each recipient’s experience – all by adding a few lines of HTML from Evergage.

Evergage does all the work for you behind the scenes and delivers the right creative to the right person as soon as they open the email. No more separate campaigns with separate copy and separate segments; all you need is one campaign to create maximally relevant experiences for every recipient. In addition, you can view detailed statistics on every Promotion, so you know what's working and can adjust what isn't.

This article will detail how to create and use promotions, as well as how to add them to email campaigns. Use the navigation at the left to skip to the section you need.

Sections included in this article:

Add Media to a Promotion

You can add more than one media file to a promotion. For example, you could create different media files for mobile devices and desktop computers. Then you can assign each to an experience and use experience-level rules to control who sees which one. Or you could create different media files for different emails containing the same promotion. When you create the email campaign, you'll have the opportunity to select the media file that goes with each experience.

  1. In the Media section, drag and drop files within the dotted line or click Select files... to choose them on your computer
  2. Add additional files as needed
  3. Click Save to save the promotion

Edit an Existing Promotion

  2. Select CATALOG
  3. Select Promotions
  4. Select the promotion you need to update
  5. Click EDIT PROMOTION
  6. On the Details tab, change Attributes and Promoted Item Settings
  7. On the Media tab:
    1. Add files - drag and drop files within the dotted line or click Select files... to choose them on your computer, then click Upload files
    2. Remove files - click DELETE under the file to be removed

Use Promotions in an Email Campaign

Once you have created a promotion, you can add it to an email campaign. You can use the same promotion across multiple campaigns and experiences. For example, in one campaign, you could create a different experience for tablet, phone, and desktop users. Evergage will determine what device the recipient is using to open the email and show the experience optimized for that device. As with any Evergage campaign, you can add rules to target specific segments and A/B test experiences. For additional information, please see the article on Evergage for Email.

  1. Log into Evergage with Campaign Editor or higher permissions
  2. Select CAMPAIGNS
  3. Select New Campaign > Email
  4. The first experience will open with Block 1
  5. Change the block Name as needed
