If you are trying to insert an Evergage integration into a site on your machine only, you can utilize the Evergage integration simulator, available on the chrome store.

Installation is quick and easy, simply download and add the extension to chrome, then make sure it's enabled via your extension settings tab in chrome ( chrome://extensions ).

Setting up a simulation

  1. Confirm that the extension is enabled, indicated  in the extension icon group, located in the upper right hand corner of your browser window.
  2. Navigate to the site you're trying to simulate an integration on
  3. Click
  4. Enter the Evergage account name, and desired dataset to utilize from that account.
    1. If you are an existing Evergage customer, use the directions for determining your account and dataset name below.
      1. the account name can be taken from the URL used to login to Evergage ( e.g. <account_name>.evergage.com )
      2. the dataset name is the datasetId that can be determined from the following:
        1. Login to Evergage and navigate to the dataset you are working within, the url will look similar to <account_name>.evergage.com/ui/index.html#/dataset/<dataset_id>/
          1. copy the text that is in the place of <dataset_id>, and use it as the "dataset name" for your new simulation.
        2. If your dataset name is simple, such as "Production"; simply convert all capital letters to lowercase, and use the result as your dataset name. In this case, the dataset name would simply be "production"
    2. If you are not an existing Evergage customer, this information should be provided for you.
  5. Save the simulation.
  6. Your browser will refresh the active tab and shortly thereafter the popup window will update and inform you that it's checking for the Evergage integration you've inserted.
  7. The popup window will update to reveal the known url, account and dataset currently inserted.
    1. This integration will persist for the URL shown, regardless of what tab you navigate to.
    2. You must delete this integration if you intend to access this URL in the future, absent of Evergage.

Updating a simulation

  1. If you've previously setup and saved an integration, accessing the URL for that integration will continue to result in a simulated integration. As such, opening the popup on that URL will show that Evergage is already on the page, and reveal the relevant account and dataset name you had previously stored.
  2. If you wish to change the simulation to use a different account or dataset, simply make your change to the text fields and click "update"
  3. Your browser will refresh the active tab and shortly thereafter the popup window will update and inform you that it's checking for the Evergage integration you've updated. The updated information you provided earlier should be reflected in the text fields.

Troubleshooting

  1. I have a saved integration for a URL I've opened in a tab, the extension is enabled and I can see the blue evergage icon in the upper right hand corner of my browser window. However when I open the popup it tells me that evergage is not on the page.
    1. Close the popup window, refresh the active tab, reopen the popup.
