TopicDetect when a visitor is about to leave your site and present a special offerID #123

Introduction

People who visit travel websites frequently abandon bookings before completing a transaction. To encourage a shopper to complete a purchase, present him or her with a special offer message if they indicate they’re about to leave your website.

Example

A visitor is researching hotels in Orlando for an upcoming family vacation. After successfully searching for a hotel room, he decides to leave your website. Before he does, use Evergage to prompt the customer with a message suggesting other highly rated family-friendly hotels in Orlando.

Segment

Build segment to include only individuals who visited your website at least once in the past 30 days and looked into booking a family vacation. Book_for_family is a trackable field that can be added to the relevant page location.

Measure

The measure of success would be the number times someone clicked the abandonment message and ultimately completed a transaction. It is always best to have a control group who does not see the abandonment message so you can determine the lift over control for the message.

Setup

Add a popup message.

On the Rules tab, define them as follows:

  • Customer is not active on the screen for 2 seconds

  • <AND> while trying to leave the page his mouse location reach 10 pixels from the top of the screen

Add the segment so the message only appears to visitors who looked for a family vacation.
