A key feature of Interaction Studio is the ability to understand someone’s intent based on his or her behavior. This is particularly important when a visitor first comes to your site as you want make sure they have a relevant experience and encourage them to browse deeper in your website. By understanding how they are interacting with your blog content, and presenting relevant articles based on their consumption (of your blogs), you can keep visitors engaged and move them through your sales funnel.

A visitor sees an ad or link promoting a recent blog article. They click the link, land on the article, and then scroll down the page. As they get towards the end of the article, a slide in message appears suggesting another article in the category that they are viewing. Because the recommendation is relevant to the topic they are reading, they click and are taken to the next article.

Create a number of “global goals” for this campaign to assess the overall impact of the message. Goals would include: downloaded an ebook, signed up for email updates, requested a demo, signed up for a free trial. You should also have a control group on the message so you can test the impact of presenting more relevant content to the visitor as they land on the site.

Here is a checklist of what you need to do in Interaction Studio to create this play on your own site:

  1. Create a new campaign as a popup message with slide in functionality.

  2. Choose the ‘dynamic’ section within the wysiwyg section and add the variables you want to show.

  3. You need to configure the promoted content rules to determine what content is shown ‘message settings > promoted content > dynamic’ and then set up your variables.
