Introduction

While browsing online, customers today are exposed to plenty of offers. Utilizing a countdown timer – showing the time until an offer is available or how long an offer remains – can help create a sense of urgency and increase conversion rates.

 

Example

An existing customer comes to your site and is presented with a message about a new promotion or game. The message includes a countdown clock indicating that the promotion is time sensitive and will expire soon. Given the individual has been thinking about the feature, and has been using the free version of the feature, he decides to take advantage of the offer and clicks through to complete the purchase.

 

Segment

You can add any segments you choose to control who sees the countdown message, but none are required for this play.

 

Measure

The goal is to get the customer to buy the upgrade. This could be added as a “global goal” and then measured against a control group.
