With online gambling, timing is very important. If a customer wants to place a bet, you don’t want him or her wasting time trying to find the game to bet on within your website. By tracking bets a customer likes to make, you can personalize your site to show the games and bets individual customers are most interested in.

A Generic Gaming Site Experience

A visitor comes to the site and is presented with a number of betting options. There is a left rail with a selection of categories they can bet on, and the hero image shows the cricket odds, as the national team is wrapping up a series and it is a close game. Your customer is interested in placing a bet on his favorite football team for this weekend’s match, so he clicks ‘Football’ then ‘English’ and then ‘Premier League’ to see a list of the upcoming games. The customer makes a selection and places his bet.

After the match, the customer returns to your site. Knowing he won the bet he had placed, he’s interested in seeing his updated account balance.

Unfortunately, when he lands on the homepage, the default site displays the latest odds on the World Snooker Championship which, of course, is unrelated to his previous betting history.

A Better, Personalized Gaming Experience

With Interaction Studio, the website can be personalized based on each customer’s betting history. Instead of showing the default selection of categories in the left rail, you can instead show the top upcoming football bets across Europe. In the example at the right, the hero image no longer shows snooker. Instead, it showcases the latest football betting offers. Highlighting the ease in which a customer can make his next bet increases the chances that the customer will click on the hero and place another bet.

No segments are required for this play.

Given this is an Interaction Studio Catalog message, you can see the revenue generated from a group of people who have seen the message. It’s always good practice to also include a control group to show that the personalized message drives more revenue.

Here is a checklist of what you need to do in Interaction Studio to create this Interaction Studio Catalog play on your own site:

  1. Create segments based on the favorite brands or categories played based on time
  2. Create a rule based campaign and use the segment for each experience
  3. Create an inline message to dynamically replace the hero image to show a message based on the category in which a customer has placed the most bets
